Caffè Nero “Chai Latte”

17 Nov

Apparently, Caffè Nero’s “Chai Latte” is 99% caffeine free. This presumably means that it’s 1% caffeine full, i.e. 1% of it (by mass, I guess) is caffeine. This means that in a typical 300ml cup, there is approximately 3g of caffeine.

Now, your average cup of coffee (made with two shots of espresso) contains on average about 150mg of caffeine. http://bit.ly/vGY8A1 This means that one Caffè Nero “Chai Latte” is equivalent to TWENTY double espressos.

Is anyone else concerned?

World Dryer A48

10 Dec

This is such an absolute and utter classic of the washroom world. For as long as I can remember, I have thought that if I were ever to open a café or restaurant, I would instantly specify these hand dryers without so much as a glimmer of a second thought. And they’re still making them after all these years!

Things I particularly like about this hand dryer:

  • The stream of air is warm enough to dry your hands quickly without burning them
  • You can actually turn the nozzle around to dry your face – and it stays there
  • The length of time you get from one press of the button is just enough to dry your hands
  • It’s built like a tank, yet looks stylish and elegant
  • I don’t think I’ve ever seen one with an “out of order” sign on it

I seem to have a blog

10 Dec

It seems I now have a blog. I’m not quite sure how it happened, “but hey”, as they say.

Yesterday I was accused of “twittering”, a concept that I have always found somewhat pointless, so I thought I’d turn it around into something useful and create a site where I can share interesting things that occur to me.

I plan to write about such things as playing guitar, playing drums, sound mixing, church worship music, and maybe the odd bit of German. I don’t promise it will be very regular, or even very interesting. But if you want to read it, you may.
